The Petition Says, " Missouri Civil Right Iniative" ~~ THINK BEFORE YOU INKSubmitted by mupmusa on Thu, 05/01/2008 - 9:53pm.
THINK BEFORE YOU INK Between now and Saturday you are likely to be approached by people collecting signatures for a so-called "civil rights initiative" to be placed on the November ballot. The petitions use tricky language to mislead voters into thinking they are signing onto something positive in the advancement of civil rights when in fact it will END AFFIRMATIVE ACTION in this state. The petitioners are using questionable tactics to gather signatures. See AP article that came out yesterday (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/MO_AFFIRMATIVE_ACTION_MOOL-?SITE=MOCOD&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT). "Group accused of deception in Missouri ballot drive" The ACLU of Eastern Missouri is a part of the WE CAN Coalition, organized to defeat this initiative. ************************************************* |
